Materials for the Commissioning Development Programme

On this page you can download the training materials for the Commissioning in Children’s Services Development Programme.

The development programme takes the form of a set of eighteen modular power-point presentations, and each one is linked to one of the eighteen components of effective commissioning described in the Achieving Better Outcomes: Commissioning in Children’s Services document.

The programme aims to help leaders, commissioners, providers and the communities involved in children’s services to develop a shared understanding of commissioning and the essential components that make it work. We have grouped these components, and the eighteen modules, into the following sections:

A – Governance and frameworks

B – Commissioning activity

C – Capacity and competencies

Below you can download the eighteen modules individually or as three separate ZIP files containing the materials grouped into each of the three sections above.

Download instructions for the development programme materials here.

These materials will be regularly be updated in response to your experiences of using the materials to deliver local development programmes. To make sure that you are aware of the latest developments and to gives us your feedback please join the online group dedicated to the Commissioning in Children’s Services Development Programme.  The group is aimed at those using the materials, so they can discuss their ideas and provide support to colleagues to ensure that local training programmes are really effective. Your feedback on the materials will help us with the development of future versions or supplementary materials.
